August at FMS: Making the Summer Count

August is always one of the busiest months in the FMS calendar. While schools empty for the summer, the maintenance window opens – and across the rest of our portfolio, our clients’ buildings don’t stop either.

From transforming education spaces ready for September to solving challenges across complex commercial estates, it’s been another month that shows the variety of what FMS does best.

Making the Summer Count for Our Schools

Empty classrooms and quiet corridors might look like downtime, but for school estates teams, the summer holidays are anything but.

It’s a crucial opportunity to get buildings ready for the new academic year, and our teams have been busy refurbishing classrooms, improving staff facilities, repairing roofs and buildings, servicing key equipment, completing water hygiene works and tackling planned and reactive maintenance.

For our education clients, FMS helps bring those different requirements together – coordinating projects, specialist contractors, maintenance and compliance through one point of contact.

The aim is simple: get as much done as possible while the schools are empty and hand them back ready for September.

Whatever the Building Throws at Us

Away from our education work, August has seen FMS supporting clients across a huge variety of sites, environments and challenges.

From underground drainage and major external works to high-level inspections, emergency repairs, safety improvements and the ongoing upkeep of busy workplaces, no two days – or sites – are ever quite the same.

Our drone capability has also been put to good use, giving us another way to investigate roofs and buildings, access difficult areas and give clients a clearer picture of what’s happening across their estate.

That variety is what FMS is built for: solving problems, bringing in the right expertise and getting things done, whatever the building throws at us.

Growing Behind the Scenes Too

FMS team in August

It’s not just our client sites that have been developing this summer. We’re continuing to strengthen the FMS team and the support behind what we do.

We’re delighted to welcome Nasra as our new Projects & Finance Co-ordinator. It’s another important addition to the business, providing crucial support across project coordination, finance and administration and giving our Project Managers even more support to focus on delivering for our clients.

We’ve also seen Matt move into the role of Commercial Manager, with a wider focus on developing our existing client relationships, creating new opportunities and supporting the next stage of FMS’s growth.

There are some exciting conversations happening with clients too. We won’t get ahead of ourselves, but the relationships we’ve built and the opportunities beginning to come from them give us plenty to be positive about.

Into September

September brings pupils back into classrooms, workplaces back to full speed and another busy period for our teams.

August has been a great snapshot of FMS today – a growing team, a huge variety of work and trusted relationships that continue to develop.

A big thank you to our team, specialist partners and clients who make it all happen.

The pupils might have been off – but FMS certainly hasn’t.
