FMS Community
We support the local community through our building management services for a wide variety of commercial clients.
We give back to the local community, through our charity initiatives and partner with local organisations that we believe in.
But now we’re taking it one step further. We’re creating our own community.
Committed to Our City.
Our team lives and breathes Milton Keynes. Almost every member of our team was born and raised in this city, and it is our mission to support it. We care about the people, businesses and the location itself, so why not dedicate ourselves to improving it?
Whether we are replacing a client’s roof, performing a double Marathon for a local charity, or sponsoring a local Awards event, it’s all part of the same mission.
In 2024, our MD Carl was even honoured as the MK Mayor’s Community Champion at the annual Mayor’s Awards.
We support Milton Keynes, because we are Milton Keynes.
What is FMS Community?
We have spent the past three years building a community of Milton Keynes-based individuals and organisations, from clients we work for and charities that we support to friendly faces from the #MeetOfMK Networking event, which we sponsor.
Having done all of that, we felt it was finally time to put something more tangible in place, and actually invite people to become official members of our very own FMS Community.
This initiative will enable us to further support members of this community, by leveraging our expertise and resources to help other organisations who share in our mission to make Milton Keynes a better place to live and work.
Benefits of joining our FMS Community
Receive free support and advice from our expert team, to help manage your building maintenance and plan future development projects. We can advise you on maintenance best practices, budgeting for your building management needs, and identifying opportunities to improve your site.
Many small to medium businesses – especially not-for-profit organisations – lack the resources and access to expertise required to efficiently manage your FM requirements. We can fill that void, and then support you with any projects that you need us to.
Once we’ve taken this off your plate, you have one less thing to worry about, and can focus your time on serving the community.
Let us handle the coordination of all your building management projects. Benefit from our established relationships with a network of reputable tradespeople, ensuring access to reliable, skilled service providers who share our values.
We’ll help you to identify and apply for grant funding opportunities, especially those related to green technology initiatives such as Solar PV installation or other energy-efficient upgrades.
Gain access to our community of like-minded organisations, who all share in our goal: making Milton Keynes a better place. This network will serve as a platform for sharing experiences, exchanging best practices and seeking advice from peers from within the community sector.
Engage in networking opportunities to connect with other community members and industry experts. Participate in networking events, collaborate with other member organisations and build new relationships within the community.
We not only recognise and promote the contributions of our members by welcoming them into our community, we will also actively help raise awareness about their causes. We love participating in charity initiatives and events, as you will likely know! We can also facilitate new connections with prominent businesses across Milton Keynes, thanks to our established commercial relationships. This allows us to expand your reach and garner support or forge mutually beneficial partnerships that can help amplify your impact on the community. You will also feature here on our website, and receive a shoutout in our newsletter.
We won’t just put your logo on the website and call it a day, though. The FMS team is well-known in Milton Keynes for its active participation in charity events and initiatives. As a community member, we will keep an eye out for these types of opportunities and support where we can.
FMS Community Members
Who can join our community?
The FMS Community Network welcomes all community-focused organisations in Milton Keynes whose primary mission aligns with improving the well-being or quality of life within our local area. While profit-generation is not discouraged, it should not be the primary motivation behind the organisation’s activities. Eligible members include schools, charities, sports clubs and community centres, as well as any other non-profit entities dedicated to serving the community.
Help us make Milton Keynes a better place, and you’ll fit right in.
It’s that simple.
Charities, Foundations and community-driven businesses – like those you can see above – are all invited to join this network of like-minded people to come together and help to achieve that goal, while creating new connections along the way.
How do you join?
It couldn’t be simpler to become part of our network.
All you have to do is send an e-mail to Matt, and express your interest in becoming part of the community, with a brief outline about who you are and the organisation you’re applying on behalf of. That’s it!
A Word from some of our Community Members
"The team at FMS have been a great support to YMCA Milton Keynes and Northampton both through their services and their fundraising! We had a large project come on board this summer and the team helped us bring this to life, ensuring that we were able to deliver this project working with care leavers in Northampton. They picked up and responded to all our needs and the end results were excellent. We love working with the FMS team, always willing to help and offer their advice. They've even held meetings in our conference rooms, true community champions!"
"FMS support MK Community Foundation in a range of different ways. As well as providing essential services for our central MK buildings, FMS also support the philanthropic side of the Foundation as business members with their most recent contribution going towards our ‘Invisible Poverty MK’ campaign. It is inspiring to see their commitment to supporting local charities and community initiatives. We are proud to partner with FMS and remain incredibly grateful to the full team for their continued support."
"All of us at MK Food Bank are delighted that the FMS and PGS teams have chosen to support our charity as part of their community commitment. We first got to know the team when they signed up to take part in MK Can, our World Record break for the Longest Line of Cans in October 2023. Since then the team have taken part in a number of campaigns, including the anniversary ‘MK Can Quest’ challenge, and most recently procuring and delivering 25 Reverse Advent Boxes for our Christmas Appeal. We’re also pleased to be working with FMS in relation to our move to new premises in Spring 2025. The team has advised us on the procurement of a large storage structure which will be vital to our operations. It was very important to us to work with a local, community-minded contractor on this project, and the team have been extremely helpful. The cost of living crisis has led to increased demand for food support. Requests for emergency parcels have gone up by around 90% over the last few years and every week about 50 people are contacting us for the very first time. The support from FMS genuinely means that local families can feed their children and use heating and hot water for longer during the coldest months. On behalf of our community, our very grateful thanks to you all."
"For Milton Keynes Hospital Charity, it has been a real pleasure working with the team at FMS, who came onto the hospital site earlier this year, to help take care of one of our many courtyard gardens. They transformed the space and were a delight to work with – tackling the tasks we gave them with humour and a refreshing and genuine motivation for doing good. We’re now working with them on other projects and as a charity we are very happy to partner with this local company."
"Harry's Rainbow have been fortunate to be supported on numerous occasions by the FMS team, with the cycle and walking challenges, as well as raising awareness through social media which is hugely beneficial for a small local charity. The team are incredibly committed to their contributions to charities which is admirable and we really enjoy working with them."
“We have been using FMS for the last 2 years. Always professional and with a friendly smile. Nothing is ever too much trouble – great customer service. Would highly recommend.”
