April was packed with exciting projects, essential maintenance works, industry events and award-winning achievements. From enhancing client facilities and maintaining critical infrastructure to supporting charitable initiatives and celebrating business success, it has been another productive month for the FMS team.
Delivering Essential Maintenance and Site Improvements
Throughout April, our teams continued to support clients with a range of planned maintenance and improvement works designed to keep facilities safe, compliant and operating efficiently. A key project this month was the completion of annual substation maintenance, ensuring critical electrical infrastructure remains reliable and fully operational. Alongside this, we carried out roofing repairs, entrance door remedial works and new door threshold installations to improve building performance and accessibility.
We also completed tanking and shower tray installations, helping to address water management requirements and enhance facility standards. Additional works included the installation of a new fire panel, a tool panel installation and comprehensive racking inspections, all contributing to safer and more efficient working environments.
To support future maintenance planning, our team also carried out a detailed chiller survey, providing valuable insight into system performance and asset condition.
Enhancing Safety and Functionality
Safety remains at the heart of everything we do. During April, we completed the installation of new barriers across several sites, including works undertaken for Electrolux. These improvements help create safer environments for staff, visitors and contractors while supporting the day-to-day operation of our clients’ facilities.
Improving Site Presentation
Creating clean, welcoming and well-maintained environments is an important part of facilities management. This month, our teams completed before and after litter clear up projects that transformed external spaces and enhanced site presentation.
We also installed a new bin store to improve waste management facilities and carried out a sun shade repair, helping to restore functionality and improve comfort for building users.
In addition, new signage and branding was installed for our commercial client, delivering a professional finish and improving visibility across the site.
Networking and Industry Events
April provided several opportunities for the team to connect with clients, partners and industry professionals.
Members of the FMS team attended the Arthur Ellis Mastertasker event, gaining valuable insights and strengthening professional relationships. We also joined businesses from across the region at Meet of MK, hosted by MKFM, an excellent event for collaboration, networking and sharing ideas with the wider business community.
Our project managers, Matt and Brad, also enjoyed taking part in a Golf Day event, which provided a fantastic opportunity to build relationships and spend time with clients and industry peers.
Battle of the Brands
FMS proudly took part in the Battle of the Brands campaign in support of the Milton Keynes Food Bank, helping to make a real difference to families and children facing hardship within our local community.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our clients, partners and supporters, we successfully collected 1,253 food items for those in need. The campaign highlighted the power of businesses coming together for a common cause and demonstrated the positive impact that can be achieved when a community works together.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the organisations that supported our collection efforts. Their generosity and commitment played a vital role in helping us achieve this fantastic result. Special thanks go to Grant & Stone, MKM Building Supplies, MD Govier, Central Plastering Services, Sikla Trade Counter, Elevation Platforms & Training, Medical Research Network, Badminton England, Crown Business Finance, Harry’s Rainbow, Yamaha Music, Gemini Rail Services, Kids Play Childcare, The Last Hurdle, Milton Keynes College, Sports Central, The Stables MK and Milton Keynes Community Foundation.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated and contributed to the campaign. Together, we have helped provide essential support to local families and children, reinforcing the importance of community spirit and collective action.
Supporting Charity Through the PGS Group Bake Off
This month, we were proud to host MK’s Best Baker Bake Off as part of the Franklins £50 Challenge, raising funds for the Spinal Injuries Association. The event welcomed 25 talented bakers from businesses across Milton Keynes, all competing to be crowned MK’s Best Baker while supporting a fantastic cause. From creative showstoppers to beautifully crafted bakes, the standard of entries was exceptional and showcased the incredible talent within our local business community.
We were delighted to have Brioche Pasquier join us as our official judges, bringing their industry expertise to the competition and helping to select the deserving winners from a highly competitive field.
Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, the event raised £400 for the Spinal Injuries Association, contributing towards the vital support and services the charity provides to those affected by spinal cord injuries.
The bake off was a fantastic example of local businesses coming together for a great cause, combining fundraising, networking and community spirit in one memorable event. A huge thank you to everyone who entered, attended and supported the day. We are already looking forward to making next year’s event even bigger and better.
House of Commons Certification
This month, FMS was proud to receive certification from the House of Commons, recognising our commitment to maintaining high standards across our operations.
Receiving this certification is an important milestone and reflects the dedication, professionalism and expertise demonstrated by our team every day.
Celebrating Success at the SME Awards
April concluded with a major achievement for FMS as we celebrated success at the SME Awards.
We were delighted to receive Silver in the Sustainability Award category, recognising our ongoing commitment to responsible business practices, environmental awareness and sustainable growth.
The celebrations continued as FMS was also awarded Gold for Milton Keynes Business of the Year, an incredible achievement that highlights the hard work, dedication and passion of our entire team.
These awards are a reflection of the strong relationships we have built with our clients, the quality of service we provide and the collective effort of everyone across the business. We are incredibly proud of this recognition and grateful to all those who have supported us throughout our journey.
