Five years ago, Facilities Management Solutions (FMS) started with an idea
to simplify commercial building management and to do it in a way that genuinely supports the people, organisations and communities around us.
At its heart, FMS was created to make facilities management simpler, more transparent and more human, supporting organisations so they can focus on what they do best, knowing their buildings and environments are in safe hands. Giving our clients one point of contact for all building management requirements makes life simpler for the organisations we support.
Five years on, we’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, not just as a business, but as part of the Milton Keynes business community.
This milestone feels less like a birthday and more like a moment to reflect and say thank you.
Five Years In Numbers
We’ve never been about chasing big numbers for the sake of it, but these figures tell a story of steady growth, trust and long-term relationships:
- Over 200 clients supported
- Projects delivered: Over 2,300
- A growing team of 10
- 19 different charities supported
- Over £25,000 donated
- *10 separate local community organisations sponsored or supported
Behind every statistic is a real conversation, a real project, or a real community initiative and that’s what matters most to us.
“When we originally created FMS, the aim was never to be the biggest, it was to be trusted. Five years on, we’re incredibly proud of the relationships we’ve built, the team we’ve grown, and the role we play in supporting organisations across Milton Keynes and surrounding counties. The fact that we’ve been able to grow while still giving back to the community means a great deal to us.”
Dan Cole, Operations Director
Built on Relationships, Not Just Contracts
From day one, FMS has focused on partnership over transactions.
We work closely with our clients to understand how their buildings are used, how they’re evolving, and how facilities management can support their wider goals, not just react when something goes wrong.
Many of our clients have been with us since the very start, growing and evolving alongside us. That trust has allowed us to work across commercial, public sector, education and healthcare environments, delivering practical, forward-thinking solutions that stand the test of time.
Milton Keynes Isn’t Just Where We Work, It’s Who We Are
Milton Keynes is a city built on growth, collaboration and doing things differently, values that closely mirror how we work at FMS.
With many of the team being born and bred in MK, being part of this business community has shaped our approach from day one. MK is forward-thinking, well-connected and community-driven, and we’re proud to play our small part in supporting the organisations that keep the city moving.
From local partnerships to regional projects, Milton Keynes has always been and will always be home.
Supporting the Causes That Matter Locally
Giving back has never been a “nice to have” for us, it’s part of who we are.
Over the last five years, we’ve proudly supported 19 charities and community initiatives, many of them based right here in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas, including:
- MK Foodbank
- Ride High
- Harry’s Rainbow
- MK Community Foundation
- Milton Keynes University Hospital Charity
- Windmill Children’s Centre
- CEO Sleepout
- Sports Aid
- Spinal Injuries Association
- Milton Keynes Education Awards
- MK Dons Sports and Education Trust
- YMCA
Each cause reflects something we care deeply about, from health and wellbeing to children, families and those facing hardship in our communities.
Backing Milton Keynes Organisations & Events
We’re also proud to support and sponsor a wide range of local organisations, teams and business initiatives that help Milton Keynes thrive, including:
- MK Dons
- MKFM
- Milton Keynes Theatre
- MK Breakers
- City Colts
These partnerships keep us connected, not just professionally, but personally, to the city we’re proud to call home.
The People Behind FMS
FMS wouldn’t be what it is without its people. They are a real team and every single member has played a part in its growth.
Over five years, we’ve grown into a close-knit team of ten, united by experience, reliability and a shared belief in doing things properly, even when no one’s watching.
The team looks out for each other, takes pride in it’s work, and understands the responsibility that comes with managing environments people rely on every day.
It’s not always been an easy journey but ending the fourth year in a new office in the heart of MK, makes it all worthwhile.
Shazia Ditta, Project Manager
The last few years at FMS have been a really positive experience for me. I’ve built strong relationships within the company and with clients, and being able to do this throughout the city where I was born and raised has been special. FMS truly feels like a close-knit family that has helped me grow both professionally and personally.
I’ve found I really enjoy refurb projects, having managed a few over the last couple of years, big and small, the start to finish process is enjoyable to see you turn something aged and tired looking into a brighter more enjoyable space to use for clients. The refurbs have varied from waiting areas to kitchens and bathrooms in various sectors.
Ashley Davies, Project Manager
I joined this company because of the people. They seemed supportive and like a family , and I knew I wouldn’t find colleagues like this anywhere else . This company has also allowed me to grow in my career by gaining experience working with a wide range of trades and amazing projects that I wouldn’t be able to be a part of in a normal facilities role. It genuinely feels like a family, where everyone supports and helps one another, which is an amazing feeling to have in a workplace.
My favourite part of working at FMS is meeting so many different clients and trades, and being able to help maintain and run the incredible buildings we drive past every day. We get access to places we would never normally see, which is a privilege in itself, and you really get to know a lot of people across Milton Keynes, it makes you feel part of one big community. I also love facilities management in general because every day is different; you never know what jobs clients will bring, which keeps the role interesting, varied, and exciting.
Matt Neal, Project Manager
The last few years at FMS have been about building trust, with clients, contractors and within the team. FMS is a company that values doing things properly, supporting one another, and delivering consistently high standards. Being part of that growth and seeing the business mature has been really rewarding.
What I enjoy most is the variety and problem-solving that comes with the role. No two days are the same, and there’s real satisfaction in coordinating multiple trades, resolving issues quickly, and knowing clients can rely on us to keep their buildings running smoothly. It’s hands-on, fast-paced, and genuinely makes a difference to how people use their spaces.
Paulina Moryc, Office Administrator
Over the past few years, FMS has been a place of growth and learning for me, especially in developing my understanding of the administrative side of the business. The supportive culture and strong team spirit have made it a genuinely great place to work and grow professionally
Lolah Thompson, Digital Marketing Apprentice
FMS is especially meaningful to me as it has been my first job, and from day one I connected with the people here, who quickly became like family and continue to inspire me with how hard they work. Alongside that supportive environment, I’ve had the opportunity to take on drone surveys, which were completely new to me, and I’ve discovered a real enjoyment in capturing images and videos in such a fun and unique way.
“What makes FMS special is the people, our team, our clients and the wider Milton Keynes community. We take real pride in doing things properly, supporting our clients long-term, and creating an environment where people enjoy working together. Reaching five years feels like a milestone worth celebrating, but it’s also a reminder of how much more there is to come.”
Carl Yeomanson, MD
