Towards the end of 2023, we completed a fantastic renovation project for one of our key, established clients – Broughton and Milton Keynes Parish Council. Through a combination of decorating, refurnishing, meeting room construction and the installation of a new external canopy, we were able to support them with a major makeover for Broughton Pavilion.
The Pavilion is a central hub for the community in Broughton, Milton Keynes, and between their internal space and the playing field outside, there are countless ways in which local people engage with the site.
While managing the project for them, we have worked with their team closely to ensure that we are able to make their vision for their re-imagined space a reality!
External Canopy / Spectator Area
After previously laying down some anti-slip strips on the decking outside the back of the building, we now went one step further, to start this project, by installing a brand-new canopy. This stands between the building and the playing field, over the anti-slip decking area.
With the addition of some benches, this is now the prime spot for spectators, protecting them from the elements! This also serves as a great place to sit when there isn’t any sport going on, too.
Internal Redecoration
Many of the walls at the Pavilion are formed of thick wooden panels, which previously weren’t painted, and had become faded, worn and dated. So, before making any interior design changes, we started with redecoration!
As you can see, the new paint job has created a completely different feel in this meeting room. Not only is there a nice change of colour, but it also makes much more effective use of the natural light from the far wall and the skylights. We also installed a new height adjustable power block which can be conveniently lowered from the ceiling.
Before our renovation project, the natural wooden walls of this meeting room were showing the effects of years of use.
The ceilings in the Pavilion are very tall and feature skylight windows, so we made use of powered access equipment to aid in the painting. Preparation was key with a large amount of filling required prior to painting. Primer and undercoats were important to ensure that the new light-grey colour would fully cover the bare wood. The results are fantastic and have given each room a new lease on life!

Full Main Foyer Renovation
As well as the decoration – which made a big difference on its own – we also installed a new meeting room, and supplied new furniture in the main foyer area. This is the biggest transformation of this project, completely changing the appearance and feel of the main space, while also providing a whole new space for meetings.

As you can see, this project has been an absolute game changer.
The bare wooden walls have a fresh coat of paint to once again brighten the area and make use of the natural light from the skylights, plus the splash of green provided by the meeting room and feature wall makes the areas feel more modern and dynamic.
In addition to the decoration and building works, we also supported the client in sourcing new furniture. The new chairs matches the newly painted colour scheme and provide a comfortable area for visitors to sit in the main foyer. This balance of casual seating and the new formal meeting space drastically improves the utility of what was previously just an open space with a few tables and chairs.
Possibly the most satisfying upgrade of the entire project is this beautiful, fresh look for the reception area. When you enter Broughton Pavilion, you’ll always be greeted with a smile, but now that smile is framed by a lovely new paintjob!
Another Happy Client!
“The FMS team provided exceptional support throughout our project, from the decision-making process through to the final sign-off. Dan was always available to answer our calls and was often present on-site during the project, which made everything so much smoother.
The transformation of our foyer and meeting rooms really has exceeded our expectations! We LOVE the new fresh look and we have received heartwarming feedback from our residents who feel the same way.
Overall, we are thrilled with the incredible craftsmanship and delivery of the project from the FMS contractors. Thank you for a job well done!”
