On the 10th of May, our FMS team came together to complete a Virtual Charity Bike Ride in aid of the amazing local charity, Harry’s Rainbow, as part of the Franklins £50 Challenge.
We were able to raise a whopping £1,190, as we cycled 150 miles on an exercise bike, the equivalent of the distance from our office in Wymbush to the ‘Rainbow Retreat’, in Camber Sands!
Harry’s Rainbow is a Milton Keynes-based charity who support bereaved children through a wide variety of services and opportunities – including sending them to the seaside retreat, for respite and time to relax, and grieve.
Our 152-mile bike ride was broken up into 30-minute stints, shared amongst our dream team; Dan, Matt, Shazia, Tyler, Lolah and Paulina. The event took just a little over 10 hours to complete!

Dan, our Operations Director, said: “This event presented a fantastic opportunity for our team to come together and support Harry’s Rainbow. We all had a lot of fun and were also able to smash our fundraising goal! We are grateful to each and every person who donated.”
In addition to the core team, we had cameo appearances from Mike, the supervisor at our sister company Plumbing & Gas Solutions, and Odette Mould, the founder of Harry’s Rainbow!
She said: “I really enjoyed being able to go in and see the whole Facilities Management team and get to know them a bit better. It was great to be part of the competitive spirit of the team and see how determined they were to complete this challenge.”
“They met both of their targets; cycling to Camber Sands virtually, and also raising over £1,000 – which is absolutely incredible and would support at least one bereaved child for a whole year through our service.”
To help motivate and push the team during each stint, we had a friendly competition to determine who could cover the most distance in 30 minutes. Matt was victorious, ahead of Dan and Odette in second and third place!
