Prior to the start of the 2023-24 season, we announced a very exciting sponsorship with the Milton Keynes Breakers, ahead of the second season of their Men’s Team.
We sponsored their Shooting Guard, Blayne Freckleton, who was with the team from its inception, as one of the faces of the Milton Keynes born-and-raised roster.
The local team had a great inaugural season, earning promotion from Division 3 into the second tier with a dominant perfect first campaign. They went 18-0 in the league and then won the playoffs, making it a flawless season – punctuated by a 113-67 win in the playoff final.
The Breakers team of 2023-24 year went one step further, though, winning the treble! Top of the league in the regular season, playoff winners and National Cup Winners.
Our resident basketball fan and Digital Marketing Executive Tyler said: “When I first joined the FMS team, the first sponsorship I pushed for was the MK Breakers. I had seen how brilliant they were in their first year and expected big things. I could never have expected this, though.”
With a 21-1 record in the regular season, they were favourites entering the playoffs, and the team that they defeated in the playoff final was actually the team who had delivered their single loss of the year (and their only ever home loss).
However, during a fairytale campaign, not only did they dominate the Division 2 competition. The Breakers lived up to their name and did something that no team has ever done – and may never do again. They became the first team in history to win the National Cup from outside of the first division.

This historic achievement involved a tough run to even get to the final, defeating three Div 1 opponents just to get to the championship game, including Derby, who finished on top of the division with a 20-4 record.
Winning the National Cup was absolutely incredible, and to complete the Triple just put a cherry on top of this unbelievable year.
